Written by: Pastor Pam Sheppard

I no longer consider myself a deliverance minister within the general expectations of the Christian world.  In fact, I only use the title for want of a better keyword to fit the requirements of Internet search engines.  Since 1983 with my first deliverance, I have developed a skeptical sense about what is actually going on within deliverance ministry circles. What has been proven to me particularly within the last decade is that evil spirits love deliverance ministry because it provides them with unique and almost unlimited opportunities to communicate and “put on a show of theatrics with their various “manifestations.”

For example, take Catholic exorcisms.  With all the demonic teachings like the deification of both Mary and the saints, how could a Catholic cast out demons, as both are a part of the same kingdom and as the Lord stated, “Satan does not cast out Satan.” So logically speaking, how can holy water when scattered on a captive  bring about a response of agony coupled with horrendous groans and howls, as if the demons are affected by water blessed by a Catholic priest?  Such acting on the part of evil spirits should earn them an Academy Award.  For Catholicism as it stands does not have  power over Satan or any fallen angels or demons under the devil’s  command.  Therefore, a demonically inspired religion does not impress  me to believe that holy water has any power over demons and therefore the “over the top” manifestations are theatrical at best.

In general, what I have discovered is that the more an evil spirit is able to speak through a captive and move the captive’s body parts, the more in control that spirit is. What follows is a probability that that spirit is not coming out very easy. Oh it may pretend to leave but it has not been cast out.  This is yet another aspect of their theatrics.  Most evil spirits know how to fake a deliverance.

So as a rule of thumb, I do not cast out demons until I am familiar with the captive and his or her issues. During this stage, my most useful weapon is the application of truth by overthrowing all preconceived notions, assumptions, false religious doctrine and practices, as well as challenging the captive’s tendency toward passivity.

Once I confront the spirits, if there are no manifestations, then I consider the possibility that:

1. There are no demons in the captive and that the symptoms represent outside oppression  or

2. The captive is oppressed by a fallen angel and not a demon or

3. The demon is clever enough to hide or “play possum.”

In all three cases, deliverance counseling is the option of choice.

However, if there ARE manifestations, then I have to consider that

1.the evil spirits are playing games or

2. The spirit knows it will prevail because it has legal rights so  it becomes bold and boastful with the manifestations, or

3. The evil spirit will pretend to go.

Nevertheless, I guard against labeling the oppressed as there are no real blueprints.  Every deliverance counseling session unfolds in it’s own individual fashion.  I am simply not impressed by either the lack of demonic  manifestations or conversely,  spirits desiring to use the captive as a channel to speak to me.

In either case, I will not entertain a conversation with evil spirits.  In fact, I will not allow these beings to speak.

I’ve attended church ALL of my
life…been raised in church, in fact. But, to be honest, I had been
confused about what the truth really was because I have heard so
many different gospels from so many different churches, so much so
that I became damaged spiritually by religion. The Holy Ghost
called me out of the church SEVERAL times, but the religion in me
just wrote it off as the devil, thinking that surely God would not
call me out of the church! Indeed, HE DID!

After some very legalistic practices
had been revealed at a church I had faithfully attended for 16
years, I started realizing that something was HORRIBLY wrong with
churches, and so I left that particular church, yet still believed
that there were possibly some “good” churches still left. Not so. I
had gone back and forth to several different types of churches,
only to constantly find the false doctrine and heavy religion that
was being practiced in each one, which was a huge turn off to me. I
was never really satisfied, but DESPERATELY searching for a church
home. The problem was that regardless of the Holy Ghost’s efforts
to call me out of religion and into TRUE salvation, I held onto the
hope that maybe there was still yet a church home, preaching truth,
and a perfect fit for me.

Never found it. I just wanted the
TRUTH!!!! I then started earnestly praying to God for him to lead
me to the truth. I kept praying and kept seeking. HE NEVER LED ME
TO A MAN-MADE CHURCH. Then, I met Pam online. I noticed that her
posts and videos always seemed to resonate with me, and I could
relate to what she was talking about. Everything started coming
together, and I was beginning to see the truth I had been praying
for continue to unfold! Furthermore, she was preaching
TRUTH!!!

I contacted
Pam, desperate for help, guidance, mentoring, direction,
fellowship, and support as I transitioned out of the religion I had
learned my entire life…the Institutional Church. I learned about
the fellowship and support I could gain from RESCUE, and joined. I
had concerns about my salvation because certain things just weren’t
adding up, and I knew that it would be almost impossible for me to
be saved, if my entire life, I kept hearing a different Gospel from
the TRUE GOSPEL.

When I spoke with Pam, she preached
the True Gospel of Jesus Christ to me…but it was NOT recognizable
to me…in ALL my years of being in church! I knew I wasn’t saved at
that point. I prayed for God to reveal to me if what Pam had said
to me was true. And within a DAY, the Holy Spirit began working on
me, showing me the evil of the world, and putting MY sin before me.
Saving faith entered into me when I realized that A DEAD MAN LIVES,
NAMED JESUS CHRIST, AND HE IS GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Suddenly, I realized that HE DID ALL
OF THAT FOR ME!!! I realized who I was before God… the wicked,
wretched person who NEEDED salvation because there was NOTHING I
could do to atone for my wicked nature…NOTHING. I was then led to
the cross. God loved me so much that Jesus Christ came in a
horrible crucifixion and death, paid the ultimate debt for MY
sinful nature through his BLOOD, and then BECAME ALIVE AGAIN 3 DAYS
LATER IN THE VERY SAME BODY, just so I could have a chance to be
reconciled to the Father. NOBODY, would have done that for me or
even has THAT KIND OF POWER OVER DEATH!!!!

That’s how I knew HE WAS GOD! THAT’S
THE POWER IN IT ALL!!! In RESCUE, we continue to proclaim the TRUTH
that is so obviously missing from the churches today. We are
devoted to one another through fellowship, and are a support system
to others who have been called out of the Institutional Church and
are desperately seeking deliverance, counseling, mentoring, and
safe shelter. Pam loves the sheep, and is committed to watching
over you and helping you through truth and love, to defeat the
schemes of the enemy. I don’t know what I would do or where I would
go if I did not have Pam and the RESCUE ministry. If you are
searching for love, counseling, mentoring, friendship and support
of believers OUTSIDE of the Organized Church who preach TRUTH, then
you, my friend, have come to the right place!

RESCUE Mentoring through Pam
Sheppard Ministries has given me the support I needed when I didn’t
know where to turn after being called out of the Institutional
Church. I now have online fellowship, mentoring, teachings, and
basically someone to guide me as I encounter issues I face after
leaving the I.C. I love it! And I have built some wonderful
relationships and get more “meat,” ministry, and fellowship than I
have EVER gotten sitting in any church!!! I also get personal phone
sessions each month! It is a phenomenal service!

When I had no one who understood,
when I searched DESPERATELY for truth, when I had nowhere to turn
for shepherding, no one to guide me and be there for me, God led me
to Pam, and she was there, to give me the strength and tools I need
to have TRUE Freedom in Christ. I thank God for this
ministry!

You will
too!  So give Pam a call at 518-477-5759.

Counseling Gays and Lesbians from a Christian Perspective Part 1

30 Sunday Oct 2011

Posted by pastorps911 in addiction, Christian counseling, gay and lesbian Christians, homosexuals, marriage, organized church

In an article dated today, 10/30/11, Episcopalians once numbered 3.6 million in 1966. These numbers have decreased to less than 1.96 million as of today.  The article attributes the drop to the fact that thousands exited this denomination because of the 2003 consecration of openly gay bishop Rt. Rev. V. Gene Robinson. Also, in 209, the leadership made a decision to ordain “ALL” baptized members, intended to give approval to practicing homosexuals.

Well, let’s face it. The organized church is still celebrating Halloween and practicing yoga and calling it “Christian.” So pastors have not a clue as to how to counsel gays and lesbians in their various churches.  The archaic approach is either to ostracize them by waving the bible in their faces and portraying ALL Christians as narrow-minded,  judgmental finger pointers, or the church  take the opposite position and allow men dressed in drag to sing in the choir.

So some intelligence and true spirituality must be brought to this discussion.

From a Christian counseling perspective, there are three viewpoints that guide the counseling process: homosexuality as demonic oppression, as a conduct disorder and as an alternative lifestyle.

Secular counseling professions  view homosexuality as an alternative lifestyle and therefore, therefore see  no need for  cure..  Even some professing Christian counselors, the idea of being a Christian and an active homosexual is vehemently defended.  Their understanding is that there is no biblical condemnation for a monogamous and lasting homosexual relationship within the context of love and whose counterpart would be heterosexual marriage. This is ignorance.

At Sheppard’s Counseling Center, we use the bible as our standard.  Therefore, we only will counsel homosexuals who desire a change in their orientation.  We  do not attempt to counsel professing Christians or non-Christian homosexuals who have no desire to change their sexual orientation. For a gay or lesbian client to enter counseling with the SCC, three (3) things are mandatory:

1. The client must possess great motivation to change.

2. The client must be committed to invest his or her time in the counseling and recovery process.  He or she  must not miss sessions.

3. The client must believe in the existence of demons and be willing to engage in spiritual warfare, signing a disclaimer which states that we have in no way tried to convince or coerce him or her toward a change in sexual orientation.  ie. accepting full responsibility to leave his or her orientation behind.

Our view is that homosexuality can be either  demonic oppression, a conduct disorder and or both.  As demon oppression,  since the cause is “spiritual” then the treatment is also “spiritual.”   Our  point of view is that struggling individuals have no power over what was done to them as children (ie. the orientation) but they DO have power over their own behavior and practices.  This view gives the client a “safe place” which allows the counseling to become fruitful.  The focus of the counseling  is not on who the person is but on the behavior, over which he or she has control.  If there is  literally no control, then demons have successfully gained ground.

There are several theories about the development of homosexuality.  Most cases are linked to childhood sexual abuse. Through incest, rape and sexual abuse, demons of perversion are given ground in childhood.  In other cases where sexual abuse is not a factor, counseling will explore the parent-child relationship, ie. was there a lack of identification with the parent of the same gender, did the client as a child not develop the appropriate sexual role, has the object of sexual desire remained linked to the need for the approval and affirmation of the same-sex parent.  We will examine if the family relationships manifested a history of distrust, sexual abuse, traumatic experiences with the opposite sex,  or whether or not the client chose this lifestyle because  he or she believed  it  to be fashionable.

Our  belief  at SCC is that a change in orientation is possible, as long as the client  desires to change and is dedicated to do so. In Christ, all things are possible.  The client should be warned that the emotional scars from the past may still persist and therefore  may take considerable time to heal.  Those who are truly dedicated to Christ will obey Him, ie.  if thy right hand offend you, cut it off.”  In other words, even though the client may desire to sleep with someone of his or her own gender, we as Christians do not follow the desires of our flesh.  Heterosexual fornicators are in a similar position.  The unmarried are to be celibate or to marry.  Homosexuals have the same two choices.  However, if they marry, it must be to someone of the opposite sex.

It should be noted that we do not believe that marriage cures homosexuality and should never be sought as such.  A single Christian of either gender is in  the same position as a Christian homosexual or lesbian.  They have two options also: to marry or to be celibate.    Besides marriage to someone of the opposite sex, the only option that a Christian homosexual has is to be celibate, walk in the spirit and not fulfill the lust of his or her flesh.  Simply put,  As Christian counselors, we view all sex outside of marriage as sin.

If this issue pertains to YOU or someone you know, counseling help is available by the hour by telephone.  So call 518-477-5759
