Churchanity promotes the lack of commonsense among believers. Religious passivity is dangerous and it is illogical.
Being religious has caused me to lack a lot of common sense. In the past, I was so blinded by religious rules, that I found it quite difficult to use my common sense to make daily life decisions. As a result, I have had to deal with the consequences of many significant life decisions I made all in the name of religion. There were times when I KNEW what to do, but because of some religious belief, second guessed myself, and made a different decision. Also, there were times when I would have a difficult time coming to a decision because I relied too heavily on waiting for some supernatural sign from God, not realizing it was just a religious belief inspired by the devil.
I can recall many occasions where I would lack confidence in my own God-given natural ability to make practical life choices, because I was afraid that using my common sense to make certain choices would somehow affect my “relationship with God,” or make me less of a Christian or candidate for heaven. Would you believe it if I told you that areas like politics, relationships (marriage included), careers, where to live, etc., are not necessarily areas that we need to be “consulting God” in? You see, God operates in SPIRITUAL MATTERS. But, religion has taught us to seek the supernatural in EVERYTHING that we do, and in EVERY aspect of our lives, that it is second nature to many of us. We fail to realize that often times, it is the ENEMY behind those decisions!!!
When detoxing yourself from religion, it is important to note that you must restructure your entire thought process. You must change your value system. You must determine new morals based on truth and common sense. I have effectively accomplished this by learning from people like Pam, who have never really been religious to begin with. For those of us who have been either raised religious, or have been heavily influenced by religion, religion is all we know, and has become the foundation for the morals and values we have today. It will have us wondering why we even make some of the decisions we make! LOL!!! That needs to change. When you encounter that WHY question, it’s time to suspect that religion is the culprit, and that it is time to do some serious investigating, which is an important part of the process of undeception. And as you go through the process of detoxing yourself from religion, use your God-given common sense, along with TRUTH to help you develop your morals and value system that will be based on TRUTH vs. false religious beliefs. Then and only then will you be able to see clearly, and start getting religion out of your system for GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thoughts? Can anyone relate to this?

I can relate! My personal churchianity experience has led me to conclude that there must have been a sign over the door of the building stating: YOU ARE ABOUT TO ENTER CHUCHIANITY, PLEASE CHECK YOUR BRAINS AT THE DOOR. I say this because in the hierarchical structure of the system, ordinary untitled individuals are taught to believe that GOD only communicates with those in leadership, since they are HIS chosen representatives. As GOD’s chosen, leadership is our covering and to think for ourselves rather than obey our leaders is to disobey GOD and HIS divine order. Therefore, we are to seek their approval for every decision, including who to marry, vote for, and every, especially every financial decision.
I am cringing as I write because I can not believe that I, an independent thinking woman in nearly all other situations, actually bought into and submitted to this religious foolishness. I submitted to the authority of people who I knew were corrupt, greedy and openly sexually immoral. Commonsense, if I had applied it, would have told me that GOD was not involved in this at all. As Pastor Pam noted in one of her posts, why would GOD choose corrupt, greedy, and sexually immoral people to represent HIM?
Yes! Churchianity does promote the lack of commonsense. I thank GOD for leading me out of Churchianity.
The IC will not question confusion and God is not the author of it. Christ is Light and NO darkness exist in HIM. You’re right how can God accept transgression when true rebirth gives the believer the desire and POWER to transform? It is not to say that people do not slip up but we are suppose to turn back from sin and not just give lip service and wallow in it.
Let’s face it – leaving a religion behind is scary….people talk, there’s shunning and exclusions that usually take place even before one departs….I have seen more bad than good in the religion I am in….most of it wounding to the point people walk away and never return. One of our family members who is a very gifted singer/artist has chosen a path that is not in step with the ‘standards’ of the church …. for that she was told she could no longer use her talents in the church….she was heartbroken…the rule she broke is she colored her hair…and not a color that was natural. One evening as we had an intense talk about religion and leaving the church she walked out, sat down and cried and asked “What’s wrong with me? Why can’t I fit in?” Her next question was, “Does God love her less because her hair is purple and another person’s is brown?”….point well taken…we are heading into a home based church and already feel the yoke being released. The veil of religion and confusion is being taken down….
You’re right Kelly some people are too scared to COME OUT OF HER. We don’t suggest to anyone that they should come out before they are ready. That is God’s job to do. Our main goal is to bring awareness to those with a listening ear that the ENTIRE church system is under a mass deception. So it may be God giving you and your friend a wake up call to come out from under mass deception. We are living in the last church age full of deception.
